A little nudge to keep you from the last-minute rush
The worst projects are the ones you wait until the last minute to do.
Everyone knows this.
And yet we all do it anyway.
Why?
Because the deadline feels far away. Because the pain of starting is greater than the pain of procrastinating. Because we think we work better under pressure.
We don't. That's a myth.
What we do work better with is a system that removes the need for willpower.
Here's what I use:
Break it into smaller milestones. Instead of "finish the project by December," it's "finish research by August, outline by September," etc.
Schedule backwards. If it's due December 1st, when does it really need to be done? October 1st? August 1st? That's your real deadline.
Build in buffer time. The project will always take longer than you think. Always. Plan accordingly.
Make progress visible. Use a tracker so you can see that you're actually making progress. This keeps you moving even on days when motivation is low.
The goal isn't to be perfect. The goal is to be consistent.
Small amounts of work spread over time beats last-minute panic every single time.
Until next time ✌️
